Mobo and GPU Compatible

Hey guys so im thinking about upgrading my card soon and i was wondering the difference between PCI 2.0 x16 and 3.0 I have the Sabertooth mobo and im a bit confused on the matter. Are these two Compatible or should i invest in a new motherboard. Also is the 980ti 8 pin or 6 pin, i might also need to invest in a new power supply.

A sabertooth is a pretty high end motherboard. You should not come across any issues with any graphics cards. Sometimes having a older pci slot can reduce performance slightly (unnoticeable) but as long as your pci slot is above a Pci x4 then you should be good.

Also the sabertooth has 3 x PCIe 2.0 x16 (dual x16 or x16/x8/x8) *1 and i was wondering if i could use that 980ti seeing as how it's a PCI Express 3.0 and i'm not 100% sure.
