Hi there, I bought parts and built my PC in January 2013. It's been just over half a year and my computer is suddenly being sluggish.
TLDR: HDD failure pop ups, CPU and GPU performance drops. Clean Win 7 installation, how do I identify the culprit(s)?
Mobo:Gigabyte 970A-DS3
HDD: Seagate ST3500641AS-RK
CPU: Fx-4300
Ram: Gskill 2x4gb 1333mhz
GPU: Gigabyte GTX 660
PSU: Rosewill 600W RD600
OS: Windows 7 64bit
My problems started when I first setup my computer. This is from memory so bear with me... I would get a popup telling me that my HDD was about to fail and I should backup. Obviously I had nothing to backup so I thought nothing of it and figured if it was going to die then I'd RMA it. It never died.
After that, however, I would wake up some mornings and my computer wouldn't boot after being put to sleep all night. I found that re-plugging in the 24pin connector would remedy that issue. It stopped doing that for months and suddenly it has come back, as well as the pop ups about my HDD.
Normally, I get 60fps on the highest settings when I game. About 3 days ago, while playing League of Legends, I would be at 60fps but when there would be a team fight (lots of things going on) I would drop to 5-10fps for no known reason.
Yesterday I wiped my HDD and did a clean install of Windows 7 64bit. The problems still persists. As we speak I have Seatools scanning my HDD for any issues.
My question is what could be causing this? I haven't found somewhere to check my Mobo's health. CPU-Z and Easy Tune 6 seem to think things are running as they should be.
PS: I tried O.C my CPU to it's Turbo of 4.0ghz in the BIOS. When I rebooted ET6 read 5.0ghz (I changed the multiplier from x19 to x20 but it read as x25). How did it boot? Why was it only 27 degrees? I don't comprehend this.
PPS: I don't use forums so I'm sorry if I posted this in the wrong place or if it's "too" long.
