I'm looking to build a PC in the near future and I was thinking about getting a Intel Core I7 4790K.

I have done some research and it looks like the 4790k is only compatible with the LGA1150 Socket.

So then, I was looking at the Asus Z97 -A or the Asus Sabertooth Z97 Mark 1. Are these boards any different. If so, how are they and which one will have an increase in performance?

Also how many PCI Ports are there on the Sabertooth and the Z97 -A. And how many GPU's would you be able to install on both these MOBOS

Thanks!

In reality the z97-a will be fine unless you are planning on trying to extract as much performance as possible from your build. If you can save money, and get almost the same performance out of the mobo you will be able to get more performance overall because you may be able to get something like a better GPU, which will give you a much greater performance increase then having a somewhat cooler mobo.
