Mobo compatibility tops out at 2666mhz. Can I still use 3000mhz sticks?

If this is possible, I would be aware that it would only run at the top speeds motherboard allows. However 3000 sticks are on sale right now and some $20 cheaper than the 2666 sticks in the same brand I was looking at.

So i was just wondering if I could use 3000 sticks in a motherboard that only allows up to 2666 speeds?

You can use 3000. They always downclock to the max speed MB allows.

Yes you can. It will run at 2666Mhz though.
