So I’m a total beginner when it comes to upgrading/building PCs. I have recently purchased a new gpu, cpu, cpu cooler, new ram and power supply. Everything is running fine except my cpu cooler doesn’t fit even though it says it should. I have a z170 pro 4s motherboard and the cpu cooler is a Corsair h100i v2. The first step of installing the cooler is inserting a backplate which doesn’t even fit! It’s like pieces of the motherboard are blocking it from “snapping” in. So I guess my question is was I looking at the wrong compatibility or should it fit?
Also if it helps I can’t really run my pc cuz my cpu is at 100 degrees C. So I’ve put my old cpu back in there just to be safe.
Also I’ve been trying to get my old stock cpu cooler from the i5 even back on the i5 but it’s still running at 100C.
ALSO ALSO:
I just looked on pcpartpicker and it says it is compatible but for whatever reason everyday I try to fit it in there I get the same result.
Other specs if it helps
I7-7700k (new cpu)
I5-6600k (old cpu which I have in there now just to be safe)
GTX 1070
750 watt psu
Z170 pro 4s Mobo
