Hey guys, I want to upgrade my computer because it is getting too old for new generations games, so I don't have enough money to buy more parts but I want to upgrade my videocard to increase FPS and gameplay performance.

Specs:

CPU: Intel Core i5 3330 3.0 GHz
GPU: MSI Nvidia GT 640 2 GB OC
PSU: Antec 500W 80Plus Bronze
RAM: 2x4 GB HyperX
MOBO: MSI Z77A-G41
HDD: WD 1 TB
Case: Thermaltake V3 BLACK

I want to check if this videocard: MSI GTX 1060 Gaming X 6GB 192-Bit GDDR5 won't get any troubles with the PSU and my current computer specs because I don't want to think if it will have bottleneck while I play games.

Thanks!

Solution
Its a good upgrade choice mate , a few titles the i5 may hold it back a bit but not to the point of unplayability.
I'd say go right ahead.

Thanks for the fast reply, sorry for another question but I'm curious about what is better for my current specs: the GTX 1060 that I wrote above or an AMD Radeon NITRO RX 480 8GB GDDR5.

Regards.

There are a thousand threads asking for comparisons or advice on RX 480 vs 1060 6gb.
They're both great 1080p cards , the 1060 performs better in most current titles , the 480 probably has a little better future proofing.
I'd say buy whatever is substantially cheaper between the two.
I would also consider the RX 480 4gb models because they're substantially cheaper & perform within 5% of the 8gb models.

if nothing else may need the motherboard latest bios that would add support for using the latest release cards ? starting with the 900 series this compatibility thing got ''funny'' on some .

it would be super unlucky you had a board that failed but it could ..

from bios 2.8 from 2012 that gave ''- Improved PCI-E display card compatibility'' but today its 2016 cards ?

I think your 99.9% fine but theres all ways that .1%

and about the AMD RX cards after helping this guy I got to question there power delivery issues reported and if there really fixed ?
