No I don't think so (As far as I remember you won't be able to upgrade to either 4th gen neither 3rd gen). And there is no need to understand how it works because LGA __ (__=No.) Indicates the number of pins on the CPU and on the mobo. That means LGA 1155 has 1155 pins on the processor.
