Hello. I was asking around elsewhere about my PSU and PC fans emitting a plastic smell even while turned off, and somebody asked me if I removed the plastic film off the VRM heatsink. 99% sure it's unrelated to the smell, but it got me thinking; is this a thing? I never heard about having to do it. All the videos I watched, including of my mobo model, never showed removing the VRM heatsink or any other heatsinks besides the M.2 slot. Only plastic film I removed was from the first SSD thermalpad that's in use.

Do preaplied heatsinks come with a plastic film? It's a B550 Tomahawk.

Edit: Did a quick glance at the manual, and it doesn't mention anything about removing plastic films besides the M.2 slot, which I did on the one in use.

If your motherboard had a peel on the VRM heatsink and wasn't removed, you should be able to see it yourself and then proceed to peel it off(provided the system is powered down and the wall outlet is turned off).

All the videos I watched, including of my mobo model, never showed removing the VRM heatsink.
Then you're overthinking things = wasting time.

Do you see it on your motherboard at this moment of time? If no, then move forward with using your system. If yes, then you peel it as stated in my first sentence.

No I can't see any sticker to peel besides on the second M.2 slot not in use
