Mobo or GPU audio to speakers

Dumb question, I’m sure, but….
I have a Gigabyte Gaming MOBO with a Sound Blaster card built in. I also have a MSI GTX 970 GPU. My monitor has speakers built in and I am using a DVI to HDMI cable from the GPU to my monitor. So my question is, how do I get the best sound to my speakers/monitor? Does the Graphics card use the Sound Blaster board from the MOBO in any way, or do I need to run something from the MOBO to the Monitor to get the best sound?

There should be an audio cable or cables from the monitor that will plug into the audio ports on the back of your comp.

EDIT:
There is a green audio cable shown here that comes with that monitor. Should plug right into the green audio port in the back of your comp.
