Mobo Processor compatibility question

Hey. Just a quick question on what to look out for when checking if a specific processor is compatible with a specific motherboard. I know you have to look at the CPU socket but is there anything else that will effect if a processor is compatible. Thanks.

Yes, the BIOS and possibly even if it supplies enough power for the CPU. Always check the compatibility list for the motherboard before you buy a CPU.
 
It also has to be supported by the chipset and the BIOS. A good example is older socket 775 motherboards that won't support a Core2 Duo, etc.

You should always check what processors your motherboard supports.
