I really need some help. I am having a problem with my Define R5 case and only have 5 more days to RMA.

My motherboard is an Asrock z170m Pro4s (mATX). Two of the mounting screws will not go completely in the standoff holes. When I attempt to loosen these two screws, they turn forever and the case makes a metal popping sound.

I continued to hook everything else up and it all works. The only problem seems to be these two stubborn screws that won't even remove. I double checked that all the standoffs were straight and moderately tight before attempting to mount. Is there any solution? Both the case and the mobo were bought from the same place, but an RMA would require I return both items together--as I can't unscrew the board myself. I'm running out of time and really need some assistance, please help. Thank you.

Solution
Could be wrong thread combination or bad thread either on screws or standoffs. Thread on standoffs to back plate is probably stripped. When something like that happens I just gently pull up on MB while turning screws to unscrew direction. A bit by bit standoffs will catch thread and unscrew. After that you can use pliers to hold standoff to take screw out.
You should RMA that case as there's obviously some bad finishing.

Thanks a lot, Mike. I was able to do the pull up on motherboard while unscrewing method and got the board loose. I found that two of the standoffs have bad threads that won't take a screw past a certain point, likely due to paint. This could be fixed by simply replacing the standoffs, but I noticed a few other problems with the case and will probably RMA it. Again, thank you!
