This is a problem I got after tunning out of options trying to get my graphics card to work on my computer
First off I was getting help from someone in the comments sectiom of youtube
He told me uninstall your original gpu (which is integrated) and put in the new one after uninstalling the old driver
So I did that, gpu didn't work
Next I was told to download the drivers from the website because my mobo didn't have the drivers for a pci-e slot
My mobo is an
ASUS M4N78-AM
I was told to go into the BIOS and do it from there
I looked in the CPU, southbridge, then the part that let me choose PCI-E slot and and stuff
But it all seemed fine to me
It was using the PCI-E slot as a priority or something
Next I was told I had to update my BIOS
My original BIOS was version 0501 or something of the sort
I changed it to 1201
The computer restarted with a new bootup screen
Went to desktop and then shut down
Kept trying kept shutting down over time
I cleaned the dust off the heatsink and the PSU which kept it up longer
But it heats up really fast and then shuts down
I went back to the BIOS when the computer was cold again to revert to my old BIOS but it said, this is an older version so it wouldn't let me go back
So the problem now is
After all that, I'm left with a GPU that still can't be fitted and a computer that now overheats making it dangerous for me to flash the BIOS again in case it overheats in the middle of it
Some extra info is
my psu is
Sumvision power x3 standard edition
I thinks its around 500w
My cpu is
AMD Athlon II X2 3GHz (not overclocked)
Gpu is
Nvidia GeForce 8200
(integrated)
The gpu I was trying to fit in was
Nvidia GeForce GT120
(I know its not good but I got it from a friend and its an improvement)
And 3gb of DDR2 RAM
Can anyone give me a hand here
Why does this update make my computer shut down over and over
