2nd try installing my new GA-970A-DS3P. Installed my new Hyper 212 EVO cooler, AMD FX 8320, with 8 GB (2X4) Corsair XMS 1600 ram. No power to anything. Finally took MOBO out of case, put on cardboard box, removed 1 stick of ram, hooked up power, PWR SW, graphics card and it came on, however I could not turn it off with the power switch. I have the PWR SW connected to the +PW- terminal. Is this MOBO grounding out after I install it into the case? And am I doing something wrong with the hookup of the power supply. my PSU has two 12V ATX plugs, one with nothing on it, the other labelled "P2". Does it matter which one I plug onto the ATX_12V terminal? Yesterday, I had put old MOBO back in, it worked OK. Just checked too see if any stand-offs were installed in wrong places. Found two, removed same. Placed MOBO into case, fans all run OK (no monitor hooked up), but not able to shut off with front on/off switch. Tried reversing PWR SW, did not make any difference, Guess I could live by turning it on with the back switch until I get a new case..

Do you have motherboard standoffs in the case before installing the motherboard? As for the power switch, please verify that the wire is hooked into the proper pins. It does matter which way you put them in. Do not mix + and -. Your motherboard manual should tell you that information.

Do you have a picture of your motherboard with its wires hooked up? It's more descriptive than you explaining it. Also, what case do you have?

UPDATE..Front power switch will turn on comp, but not shut it off. I have no data getting to monitor. Tried hooking to both DVI terminals, no good. Thought maybe my GPU was bad, put in older GPU, hooked up monitor to it, it does not work either. Am I missing something? There is not a terminal on the MOBO that powers the video card, is there? I thought it got its power from plugging it into the board. It's got me stumped. When PC is turned on, I see the red LED on the front flashes, and stays on, like it's working. My case is a Rosewell, 4 years old, don't know the model, no papers for it anymore. I know my headphone jack does not work on the front, so have been using the one on the back. Think since the front switch turns on, but not off, it must be bad too. Time for a new case too? Any ideas out there on why no moniter????
