I just bought i7 4790k and gigabyte z97x gaming 3 and installed my HD6950 2gb sapphire but it wouldn't recognize it, then I tried other gpus and none of them worked. The onboard graphics work fine. Any help?

Solution
In some instances, you'll have to go into bios(off your onboard VGA) and disable the onboard VGA and set the main display to PCI-Express.

Once you save and restart, switch your PC off and use the PCI graphics card.

That usually worked for me.

Just making sure. Hmm you got the 8 pin or 6 pin power connectors plugged in and seated properly in the graphics card? Im trying to figure out whats wrong.

What power supply do you have
