MOBO won't recognize older graphics card.

I have a z97 Krait edition, a buddy let me borrow his older 8800 gts graphics card. The mobo won't recognize the cards in either pci slot. nothing in device manager. is the graphics card fried? i tried to switch to gen 1 in bios because its old it was on auto, but still nothing.

strange new update, i added a second gpu to the other pci slot and the computer WILL recognize the gpu in the 1st pci slot but not the second. if I remove the second gpu than the gpu wont work at all.
