mobo won't talk to working SSD. Will this upgrade build work?

I already tested the SSD and SATA cables and they work fine. MSI support says the mobo needs to be replaced. This build is 4 years old and I was hoping to go at least another year before replacing it. Would like to get just a new mobo, cpu and upgrade to Windows 10 and replace the rest later on.

Approximate Purchase Date: this week. Wife is annoyed by how slow it is. Everyone misses the SSD.

Budget Range: $400 Before Rebates; After Shipping

System Usage from Most to Least Important: gaming, surfing the web, quickbooks

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: mobo does not recognize SSD anymore. SSD tested fine on another system with no issues. SATA cables work fine with other drives. I don’t think I can get a new mobo that supports my current CPU so that is on the table as well. Windows 10 is required for Sea of Thieves.

Does anyone have better options for replacement parts?

Thanks

Solution
Your proposed new system is way worse than what you have now !!!!
That MB you have now has SATA3 (6Gbps) connector and should be compatible with any SATA based SSD at full speed.

Are you saying the MSI - 970 GAMING ATX AM3+ Motherboard does not have the 6Gbps SATA?
