What OS? It would probably need to be a Server OS to support more than 4 cores and that much memory. Only a server needs that much power.

Server boards. Check out the Mac Pro - 8 cores of goodness.

Cores are like sex. Some of us can fully utilize all that we can get our hands on, while others struggle to use just one. ;)

You're looking for something like the server grade Supermicro X7DBE.

Until AMD releases Barcelona, the only dual socket mobos that support quad cores are Intel Xeon 5xxx based. 2 quad core Xeons would certainly be a powerhouse but the FBDIMMS kill the performance from an enthusiasts perspective.

I'll probably get flamed for this statement, but when AMD does release quad core Barcelona and Phenom, the QuadFX (4x4) platform would be an "enthusiasts" alternative from having to run FBDIMMs or ECC memory.
