Hello all,
TL;DR: How to setup MoCA properly?

Provider info- My cable/internet service provider is Time Warner Cable (Now Spectrum)

Problem: My router/modem combination is located in my home office on the second floor of the house. I get service to my router/modem via coax I need to get wired internet down in my basement for a server and another router or range extender. Running an ethernet cable is not an option so I see using MoCA as the cheapest most affordable thing as I need a wired connection. My current understanding of MoCA is that I would need to buy a filter to put on the line coming in from outside so it won't interfere with my cable service, or neighbors. From there I would buy a MoCA converter and plug an ethernet cable from the back of the router into that which would go into the cable splicer that is simultaneously connected to my router, that then leads to the wall jack, then to a main splicer. At the main splicer there is a line run to where I would need it the internet access to be. There I would use another MoCA converter to switch back to Ethernet to use with my server and networking equipment. Will this work or does it need to be a direct line ran? Any help is appreciated, thanks!

TLDR: How do I set up MoCA to have Ethernet access in another room?

Solution
I'm not aware of any filter needed for a MOCA connection.

Basically, you inject the ethernet signal from the router via one MOCA device, it pumps through the house coax wiring, and extract the ethernet signal with another MOCA device in another room.
As long as everything is connected to the same house coax, it should work.

My DVR and modem from the cable company are installed over the house coax as well. Will this interfere? EDIT: Does the device the moca is sending to from the main router matter? ie. does it have to be a modem or router, or can I just use a switch

No.
This is what the MOCA devices are designed for.
