Alright, so I'm trusting that more than one person will reply to me this time -- my last thread had only one reply and it has been up for months. Anyway, I have a Dell Optiplex 755 USFF, and I'm looking to mod it a little. So I know that you can get LGA771-compatible Xeons and mod them with a little sticker thingy to make them work in LGA775 motherboards. Well, that's what I'm looking to do. The computer I have does have an LGA775 motherboard, so I want to buy a Quad Core 3.0GHz 12M L2 Cache processor along with the sticker mod to put in my computer.

Although, I do have a few problems: Will it work with the BIOS I have (I believe it is Dell's A22, if not I will upgrade to that), and will the power supply (the only PSU you can get for this is an external 180 watt, I believe) suffice? If the BIOS won't work, can someone either mod one for me to work with it, or can you tell me a way to mod the BIOS, or download some kind of other BIOS or something? And.. if the PSU won't suffice, it just probably won't. Dunno how I would change that. Also, I don't know if the TDP will work out, although I do know that Xeons aren't supposed to get that hot. It is a fairly small but around average-sized heatsink, although I have been thinking about also adding an extra fan to this (I also am putting an acrylic window in the side panel of this, I already have some purple LEDs in it ). And I also plan to put Yosemite on it (I would have it double-booted with Windows 7, which I already have on here).

So yeah, I'm modding this thing a lot. But I just want you guys to answer those things about the processor, TDP, PSU, and BIOS (and if you want, tell me how to make it a Hackintosh).

Thanks

UPDATE: I did a PSU calculator thing, and it said that the minimum PSU wattage should be about 166W.

To start with, if you post something, and your post is clear and easy to read, with a description of the problem or question clearly outlined, you should get a reply fairly quickly.

If you don't get a reply within a day or two, bump the thread (Post a reply to your own thread that just says bump, or something like, hello, anybody?, so it goes back up to the top of the recent posts.

Don't do this just to get it back up right away. Only if a few days have passed with no replies). A lot of times folks won't go looking past the first page of results when looking at threads needing answers. Not always, but most of the time.

Also, you might want to break your post into paragraphs so it's easier to read. A lot of members won't even bother reading your post if all they see is a big block of text.

Ah, I see. I'm going to edit it and break it up in paragraphs. Thanks for the advice man! :)

Yeah, hopefully :pt1cable:

SEE WHAT I MEAN?!? Waited over a week, bumped it twice, tagged the h3ll out of it, and even organized it with paragraphs to make it more readable. No replies.

Yeah, I've googled this forever. And I bumped twice 🙁

AND.. almost two weeks, thirteen tags, two bumps, and an organization of the post later, no replies. I'm never going to post on this website again unless I get an answer soon to change my mind. Don't know what the problem is here.

YES! Finally an answer! Thank you sir!!

Yes, I did use Google, and I have looked up the bios mod, Hackintosh, and the adapter, what I want is opinions and if these things will work with this specific computer. Also, I ripped a huge heatsink out of a PMG4 that could probably even work without fans.. And, I already got the window cut :). Looks pretty cool. Thank you so much for taking the time to reply! (BTW enjoy your i5 😀)
