I'm thinking of starting modding by making a few simple weapons for BG2.
I've already successfully made a few items using a program called Smithy but
I'd like to use the BAMs and other graphics from other IE games like PST and
IW.
Can someone point me to the tools required to extract and convert these
graphics and a few guides on getting them to work with other item creators.

You can either DLTCEP or Near Infinity to extract BAMs and assign them
to ITMs. BAMWorkshop can be used to make new BAMs or alter existing
ones. DLTCEP can also alter them.
