Mode Not Supported

So when I try to play Dayz mod or GTA: San Andreas through Steam, my TV screen - using it as a monitor - goes black and a message comes up sainy 'Mode Not Supported'. I recognised it as an error I once fixed months ago by making the game in question windowed.

However I have no idea how to make these two games windowed, I have tried using the -windowed technique in the launch options. I have tried using programs. But nothing seems to be working.

If anyone can think of a fix for this permanently so I don't have to look for hours trying to find out how to put certain games into windowed mode it would be a massive help.

My resolution is 1440x900 if that helps at all.

Thanks :)

Sorry, I thought you could get thru the menu but not run the game.
To reset all your settings find your GTA SA folder in your My Documents and within that folder delete the file named GTA_SA.SET

This doesnt delete any saved games but it does erase all your setting so be sure to go thru the options menu and change things that need it.

And the reason that message is coming up is because your TV can't display the resolution, it's probably limited to only 1920x1080(1080i/p) and 1280×720(720i/p).

Your Nvidia Control Panel or Catalyst Control Center should have some options specifically for TVs as well.

Popatim - I don't have that folder in My Documents, so that's that idea gone. I don't know if that's because I downloaded it through Steam or something?

James Mason - So what do you suggest that I do, change my resolution via the Control Panel to one you suggested?

Thanks for the help.
