Question "Mode Not Supported"?

I’m not sure if this is a GPU-specific problem, so I hope I'm not posting this in the wrong place.

I have my computer hooked up to a 52” Samsung LN52B630 LCD TV purchased way back in 2009 via a 50-foot HDMI cable that is 6 years old. In May of this year I bought a used Sapphire Pulse 5700 XT off of eBay.

Within the last month or two, once or twice a day I will see a brief blip of static, my screen will go dark (like the TV is switching signals), and I'll see a “Mode Not Supported” error. It lasts a few seconds, then returns me back to what I was doing. It happens if I’m watching a movie, doing something on the internet, playing a game – anything. Occasionally it’ll last longer, but mostly it's a few seconds.

Could there be a problem with the GPU? Radeon’s Adrenaline software? The TV or the HDMI cable? I recently tried switching ports on the back of the TV, but it happened again within an hour.

I also did a fresh install of Windows 11 near the end of October for unrelated reasons, and this problem may have started around that time.

Any help anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated!

Potentially any of the above.
It would be unlikely the picture would recover if the GPU had outright crashed...

(Potentially) 13 year old TV, 6 year old HDMI cable at 50' - either of those would appear more likely than the GPU itself.
Cable is an easy/obvious place to start - especially considering 50' is generally considered the accepted upper-end of viability (for <4K anyway).

I could have sworn I'd replied to this a few days ago to mention I bought a new 35-foot 4k iBirdie HDMI cable, but something must have gone wrong on my end. Regardless, it arrived on Saturday, I installed it, and I haven't seen the "Mode Not Supported" error since.

Thanks for your help!
