Modem is older one with phone jack

Is there an adapter I can use to make my lynksis into a cable modem for Xfinity wifi? I don't want to rent theirs. Budgeting to retire but want wifi.....it's a ea6400

If your old modem has a phone jack, it is likely ADSL modem. Internet over cable uses a different protocol then ADSL, so it would not be compatible. I would suggest looking into buying a simple cable modem.

YOur existing router is ADSL, and it cannot be used with a cable modem as it does not have WAN port. Some alternative firmwares allow for a LAN port to be assigned WAN duties, but alternative firmwares are generally not available for DSL routers.
