Has anyone ever heard of a modem killing a phone line's dial tone? I just moved and unpacked my computer, hooked everything up and tried to get online. As long as the modem was hooked up I couldn't get a dial tone. I had two phones connected and they worked fine (I have four active phone jacks in the apartment) before I coonected the computer to the wall jack. After I disconneced the modem the dial tone returned. The modem worked fine before the move and shows up with no problems in the system settings, I'm even using the same phone cord I used at the old apartment (which is good, I checked). I'm running Win95 and an old cr#ppy Mwave modem/soundcard combo. I know I need to upgrade anyway, but waiting for the funds. Any ideas?
