Modem router combo

I bought a Motorola surfboard extreme and it works very well, the only problem I have with it is the limited range on the wifi. I live in an older house with log walls that shortens it even more. I'm hoping for suggestions on a single combo unit that has better range but still has multiple ethernet ports at 10/100/1000 and a usb port for phone service for a (fairly) reasonable price

A single router probably won't fix your problem. You should look at adding WIFI access points.

1 - stick to 2.4G band and don't bother with 5G unless it's in the same room
2 - can you move the router to a more central place where it can see as many hallways as possible?
3 - yeah, access points are a solid solution, though no idea if you can use the same SSID or need separate SSID for each one
4 - repeaters! lag, but simple
