MODEM-ROUTER Model: GT784WNV WON'T RECOGNIZE USB HDD

Hi everyone, Did someone ever have a problem with MODEM-ROUTER Model: GT784WNV not recognizing a HDD? This modem-router has a USB port on the back but when I type 192.168.1.1, enter my username & password, I can see all the wireless and hard wired devices except the HDD. Is there something I have to change on the modem-router? I tried rebooting, refreshing page, closing and opening browser. I am running Win XP w/ all updates. I saved all my updates in a file and if I ever have to reformat, I use these saved update files. Thanks in advance for your help.

Everything I see on the internet for that device says that the USB port is not enabled.

It maybe just a maintenance port, it may just for a printer. Read the manual.
