Guys,can anyone tell me about typical speed rates of different speed Modems?I mean the speed you get when downloading files on your modem in KB/s (KiloBytes/Second)?

I remember back in those days... just above 6.2 from a good server. (56K USR v.90)

It must've been a VERY good server may I say...
Check my theoritical bandwith calculation and tell me if it's correct or not:
(57600 bitpersec /9 bits)/1024 = 6.25 KiloBytes/sec
That 9 bits is a result of adding the stop bit to the byte.
And I'd heard that telephone lines are not capable of over 53 Kbps...

When they take compression into account, it seems to increase (a tiny bit).
