I looked around a little bit but couldn't find anything quite like what I was needing to figure out. At the moment, I have my modem and router hooked up, then i have a 8 port switch hooked up to my first router to power all most of my pc's. I am attempting to hook up a second router to my switch so I can actually have some good wifi in my basement. Im aware I can buy a wireless extender, but too expensive in my eyes. But when I try to plug into the routers Ethernet it tells me "Unidentified Network No Internet Access". So far i have tried changing it from a public to home network but that did nothing. Any ideas, is what I am doing even possible or I am just being a fool? Thanks for any help and ideas.

Okay, are you plugging in to the second router or the first router and getting "unidentifda;sad blah blah" ?

Assuming you're talking about your second router, you're going to have to configure it to be a bridge or access point. Consult your second router's manual for instructions on how to do that.

Secondly, make sure your second router is connected to the first one NOT by the WAN (internet in) port, but through a LAN port (one of the ones that you plug in computers to). If you plug it in through the LAN port you should be able to use it just the same as a network switch even without configuring it at all.

Well I havent tested it yet but my prediction of me being a fool was correct, I am indeed plugged into the WAN port.........idiot level is over 900 lol.

Ya I guess, just one of those "I can't believe I did that" things. Anyway thanks for the help. And I was meaning to select your first response as best solution but I accidentally clicked the wrong one. I'm full of errors today.
