Moderate Budget Upgrade for MOBO/CPU

Hello,

I'm looking for some recommendations for a CPU/MOBO upgrade. I've been updating my current system one piece at a time, and it's time to bite the bullet and get these two components out of the way.

I have a $200, possibly $300 budget. I'd like to spend $200-ish for a CPU and MOBO bundle, and have $100-ish to spare in case my RAM also needs to get upgraded. I'm putting all of this into a HAF 912.

I'll let Speccy describe my current system.

First off
I would recommend a fx 8320 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113285,
Second i believe that your motherboard supports the fx( correct me if I'm wrong)
Third i would recommend a second set of ram, you will see a difference. Then if you don't have a good cooler get a better one and over clock.

Thanks for the reply. I thought my current board only supported up to the Phenom II, but in any case, it has a bad RAM slot and needs to be replaced -- not to mention I'm not getting the full benefit of the SSD from it.

It is probably a little more than you want to spend, but with an upgrade like this you would not have to worry about another upgrade for a long, long time. And you could OC your CPU and/or memory to your heart's content.

I've got an old Z68X board and a geat CPU and I am still tickled to death with them and plan on using them for years to come. Like you I have been updating my system part by part for a while now. My old GTX 295 video card still plays anything at highest settings too. It should, it cost just over $500 in 2009. I took my old X58 MB and i7 940 CPU and water cooler plus memory and made another system with the parts and sold it.
