I am looking at computer parts for my first gaming pc. trying to get different ideas on a good build. I will be playing mainly minecraft with mods and league of legends. Will be buying some modern games later but not a ton of them. I would like to see high settings and steady frame rates. I have never built a computer before, and i only have a laptop at the moment. This means the build will need to include keyboard/mouse, OS, Monitor, Etc.... please let me know your insight and thank you for your time.
Budget is below $1300 (would prefer closer to $1000, but I CAN NOT go over$1300)

For minecraft you need a good Cpu, but it is a weird one, I think it is going to get better soon, but I have seen forums on here with people with $1900 computer, obviously great at almost anything but huge lag on minecraft. I myself have an I7 4790k an a gtx 970 with 16 gb of ram, everything runs amazing, but minecraft is still a bit of a low frame rate on high settings. For other games that you may be playing you will need a decent gpu.

A good one would be an Nvidia gtx 970 if budget can stretch( about $350 on Microcentre ), otherwise something like an gtx 770 or an Amd r9 280x would be good.

For Ram you can pick up 8 gb for $80 or 16 gb for $160 ( 8 should be enough, but 16 is good as now and again it may be needed).

Cpu wise, for gaming a great cpu is an i5 4690k for $200.

Psu Corsair CS650M ($110)

For OS I would get windows 7 64 bit Home Premium ( $100 on microcentre)

Motherboard I would recommend an Asus z97-k (I use it in my Pc and is $130 on Microcentre)

A nice Samsung S24D300H 24" LED Monitor ( $150 on microcentre)

A 2TB Toshiba Hard Drive ($70 on newegg)
http://www.microcenter.com/product/434236/2TB_7200_RPM_SATA_6Gb-s_35_Internal_Hard_Drive_DT01ACA200_-_Bare_Drive
And finally for a case a Corsair Obsidian Series 450D Black ($110)

For the mouse and keyboard that is personal preference, I would have a look around from them yourself.

Good luck :)

Solution
This is just a random question as I've never played Minecraft, but I really wouldn't have thought that game would require so much computing power just from looking at the graphics alone. I"ve seen a lot of people building pretty stout computers for Minecraft. What makes that game such a resource hog?

I really only know of the game, mainly, from that episode about it on South Park. Ha, which was a great episode.

The game has been badly optimized, and written in Java. If written well, the game would be able to run on a terrible computer. But it is still weird, normally to get better performance in a game, you spend money on components for your computer, or play around with cooling etc. But I spend a huge amount on my Pc with an excellent i7 4790k and gtx 970 and the game runs meh, okay. Where as amazing graphics games, like the new Cod etc etc play so well.

just a quick throw together should do everything you want.

Wow, that is interesting to know. I too just recently with the i7 4790k and GTX 970 and it's crazy to think that setup wouldn't run that game well.
