Modern PCI slots vs. mid-90s PCI slots (not PCI-e)

just bought ASUS P8Z68-vLE, has PCI slots. Will old (mid-1990s) ATA/133 controller (PCI card) work on this modern mobo? Then I could add two old IDE HDDs...
Or is modern PCI different from old PCI because the cards have a gap & old PCI slots were white now they are light blue. Thanks.
