Modern RAM speeds for the Phenom x6 1090T?

I have a system that I'm interested in upgrading. I plan to swap out the mobo, and I'm investigating a RAM upgrade while I'm at it.

I've been out of the world a while, but I remember the Phenom having some hard limitations on RAM speed. Unfortunately, the most "recent" information I can find is from 2010.

So, what RAM speeds will the Phenom tolerate well? No DDR4, right? I'm under the impression that it depends on the motherboard, somewhat. I'm not tied to a particular board, but I need SLI. I'm not really interested in overclocking or tweaking timings. I'm curious about how much improvement I can get with a simple module-swap.

Suggestions?

the phenom can only run ddr3 memory, specifically ddr3 1333 and ddr3 1066. mobo wise, all you really need is a motherboard with a am3 socket and a couple pcie slots. ofcourse the more money you spend the more pcie slots you get (depending on wether you wanna do 3-way or 4-way sli). http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128859 something like this is what you are gonna need but this mobo is for 2way sli

Thanks for the response!

Yeah, 2-way SLI is all I need. I've been running two cards without SLI, cuz the renderer I use doesn't care. But then I realized that my games would run better if only I replaced the mobo ;-)

Just to be clear, the 1090T can't run anything higher than DDR3 1333? No 1600 or 3200? ...pity.

nope 1333 is the highest the 1090t goes if you ever need to check things like these in the future just use cpuboss
http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Core-i7-4770K-vs-AMD-Phenom-II-X6-Black-1090T check the bottom left corner where it says memory controller

Awesome, I will! Thanks!
