Hello! I am a novice and have never built a PC before. I would very much appreciate assistance on creating a build for my needs. I still get confused about compatibility issues and current generation hardware stuff because I'm still learning. Thanks in advance for any advice :)

(Summary: Modest gaming PC + monitor + windows 10, slight preference for AMD products but not required, Total $1000)

Approximate Purchase Date: mid-December - mid-January

Budget Range: $1000-$1050 max, after shipping, etc. So I would say $900-$950 before calculating in shipping and other costs.

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming! > Movies/TV > everything else. I do NOT plan on editing photo/video content, or capturing/streaming my gaming.

Are you buying a monitor: Yes! I need a monitor with an acceptable (not necessarily very high) refresh rate for gaming. Just a standard monitor is fine. I do not want/need a curved screen or one of those extra wide monitors.

Parts to Upgrade: I'm not sure what to put here.

Do you need to buy OS: Yes. Windows 10

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Doesn't matter.

Location: Texas

Parts Preferences: slight preference for AMD, but not necessary.

Overclocking: No

SLI or Crossfire: No

Your Monitor Resolution: I would like a monitor that is 1080p with an acceptable refresh rate for gaming.

Additional Comments: I live in Texas, an especially hot and humid part of Texas at that, where the air condition struggles to get the house below 78 half the year. If there is compromise to be made, it cannot be in the system's cooling hardware.
(Edit: Desk space doesn't matter to me, so I can have a large case. Since it will be my first time building, having the extra room to work with would be nice. Working with a small case would not be ideal.)
(Edit 2: Having an SSD would be FANTASTIC, but I can always upgrade later when I have more money. If there's a moderate sized SSD that can work with my build, nice! But if I have to use a regular hard drive, I can accept that)

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: I do not have access to modern PC gaming titles at all. My dinky laptop can barely run WoW on minimum settings, and is unplayable in raids lol. I would like to at least play Skyrim on good settings and more modern AAA games at Medium settings.

Appreciate the assistance!

The Intel build will perform better.

Ryzen tends to run cooler than Intel and you can not invest much on cooling with your budget. Recommend the following setup, note: tax shipping are included already:

It's the build provided by Vapour but I've dropped the SSD and used the money to move up to a 144Hz 1080 display, the cost is the same.
Entirely up to you on the build, but as a rule we keep our displays longer than any other part hence the suggestion.
