I found the download for the bios for BBA 9800 XT 256MB of Hynix ram, but is the other download there, called modified or something, for flashing BBA 9800 Pro cards with 128MB of Hynix ram. The modified download was not clear...

Obviously, I have a BBA 9800 Pro with 128MB of Hynix ram...

OK, I put on my U1 Copper heatsink. I had it measured for my 9500np, and I had to trim the two top corners to get it to fit, but now it fits great. I put on some AS5, and my card has been running at 432/369 all day yesterday without a problem... I have not pushed it farther than 432/369, for I wanted to make sure it was stble there...

I just need someone to convince me performance will be better at the same speeds with the XT bios... and someone to convince me I have a bios that works with 128MB of ram...

I went up from 369/432 to 369/441 with no problems... but when I tested 3DMark03 at 369/450, I got a lot of snow in the rapids in the Nature test... I went back to 369/441 and I think I still see a few sparks of snow in the water in the Nature test, at the end, just before the butterfly lands on the rock...

I am wanting to flash this video card and see how it works...

Well the biggest convincer is that the XT bios will pump more juice to the core and ram so you can do more. Most people report a 300 point boost in 3dmark03 by just flashing a 9800 pro 413/730 with the XT bios at also 413/730 for example. There is a double-edge sword to the flash so the bad is obviously more heat so better colling is needed. Another bad is you warranty is voided, whos uses those anyways?

The nature test is a peaver. When I flashed to the XT bios, I got less snow in the water so it make me believe that the snow is a voltage issue and not really all heat. As long as you PC games dont snow.

The only probs ive had with a xt flash is game test 3 in 3dmark 03 had artifacts but i havent seen any problems with any games so far.I was kind of worried about doom 3 but it runs like a charm.

Which bios did you use... I need the 128MB Hynix for a BBA 9800 Pro...

My cooling should be awesome with this P4 U1 copper heatsink... I also have a 120mm fan blowing on my card from the side...

And as long as the card can be flashed back the warranty can be salvaged...

Is possible a core r360 but read r350?
I was buy the card in July, and it is relatively recent. The PCB is r360 & Hynix mem, but the core says r350.

Anyone have flashed succesfully and without artifacts, a Sapphire 9800Pro like that?

If you are talking about in "Battle of Proxcon" and "Trolls Lair" then thats normal for those using the r350 core and not to worry. R360 cores shuold not do this, but Id bet the cheap PCB version may.

My BBA 9800 Pro has the R360 Core and Hynix ram... bought in mid July from newegg... I am waiting on conformation about the correct bios to use to flash this thing... I have flashed motherboards maybe 50 times, but I have not flashed a video card yet, so I want to make sure I have a bios that will work with this card and only 128MNB of ram...

Im yet to see the wrong bois fry a card. The worse the will happen is crashed or really screwed-up displays. At that point put back the original BIOS.

OK, I flashed my card, and when I got into windows and it was recognizing my card as a 9800XT, my monitor turned off... my computer was still running... I had to reboot... I even tried going into VGA mode but the same thing still happened... I went back to my orginal.bin bios and I and back to normal... Am I doing something wrong or do I need to try a diffferent bios...

Hmm and using 2.5ns Hynx? Have you tried this BIOS:

<A HREF="http://www.techpowerup.com/bios/biosdetails.php?b=ATI.9800XT.256.Hynix25.bin" target="_new">http://www.techpowerup.com/bios/biosdetails.php?b=ATI.9800XT.256.Hynix25.bin</A>

I know its for a 256mb version but just wondered if you tried it?

This is why i push around for those samsung r9800 this the xt bios are in plenty for them and able to use like 9 of them.

This also brings up another interesting issue. You may have the r360 core but using the r350 PCB which bios flashing to XT can be very troublesome when the 2 are different.

This also brings to another good question, how does one find out wich PCB they have?

The bios I tried was the "modified" one on that web page... I was thinking "modified" might have meant changed for cards with only 128MB or ram... I did not try the original one...

The modded ones does mean for the 128mb card. Hell One can mod the bios on thier own, there is SDKs out there.

May wanna look at other places like overclockers.com, guru3d.com, rage3d.com for other Bios versions that could be tried. Also what program are you using to flash the card?

I am using the downloads from the stick on the top of this section...

I did not uninstall Rage3D during this process... nor did I uninstall my drivers before flashing... but that should not cause the crash... but it is worth trying, even if it is a pain...
