Just picked this game up for $25. I liked the original Medal of Honor, and
loved Call of Duty, but so far I am frustrated with the first level in the
foliage. So stupid that you can't see the Japs, but they can see you without
a problem and get lots of hits in on you, while you run back and think
you're a safe distance and hiding behind a rock to snipe a few of those
bastards, then before you know it, there are three right behind you. WTF?
Your teammates are utterly useless...

Anyone else find this game frustrating?

Playing it through at the moment with dogged, grim determination. Have
never not finished a game but this may be the first. I am not enjoying
it. Just rescued a downed pilot and getting off the beach - someone
tell me it gets better from here please??

Playable demos are not always an indicator of the final game but in
this case, it looks like it was. The Medal of Honor series has a
particular style and gameplay action, a formula if you will, and it
appears the developers here didn't understand that and lost it. This
game shows the flip side of free playable demos, there are stacks of
unsold boxes at my local Best Buy, even at bargain price. One of the
big disappointments of 2004.

Downloaded the patch only yesterday (told you I had dogged determination
to finish games). It does stop the mouse 'float' so now I can aim
properly and this alone has improved the game immeasurably.

I'm now at a part where I have to clear a couple of machine gun nests
with grenades - how the hell do you aim where to throw them? I have to
get them between wooden timbers into the nests - tried several times and
keep missing - grenades just hit and bounce off the timbers. Then I run
out of grenades. Damn things go everywhere but where I want them to.
Dont know if I can face the training level again to see what I'm doing
wrong.

Don't bother, you aren't doing anything wrong. While one could easily aim
grenades during training this is no longer true for the game itself. Dunno
why they did that, but grenades are pretty much useless because of that,
impossible to tell where they land :(

Have your tried the walkthru?

Sometimes I'll get stuck in a level, and the game guides might have a clue
as to what to do.

Thanks for that but I'm less stuck as inaccurate :) Just couldn't
throw a damn grenade to save my life. Finally got past that part
(through luck mostly). Still fairly unimpressed by this damn game but
it has improved a lot over the last few levels.
