Hi and thanks for the forum. I have a dual core quad lga775 with 8gb ddr2 and Gtx 275. I've just picked up a Hipper TypeR 580w psu.

However, the psu only has one 6 pin plug but the gpu requires two 6 pin plugs. The psu is modular. I'm not sure if it's possible to replace a Molex wire with a 6 pin connector or if it's wise to plug an adaptor into the two available Molex plugs and convert to six pin gpu ?

Thanks in advance. The board is an Intel and not overclocked.

in other words you have a crap power supply that lies about its actual wattage

you try using an adapter and it will blow up

you need an actual decent power supply first
Still confused here. I've seen a chart that states the gtx 275 is 168w not 200w ?

Also I've now acquired a HD5870, would the Hiper be sufficient for this card ? TiA.

219 watts.
You can lable a power supply using combined watts on all rails but the tru judge is the 12 volt rail.
From my link above max combined watts on the 12 volt rail is 360.
