Hey guys
so i have no money (highschool student) and i need a gpu for my i3 2120 pc i got for free. now in 5 weeks im getting $400 from work experience for a 960 and a new coolermaster psu.
now a friend has offered me his gigabyte GTS 250 1gb which requires 1 6 pin connector which will do fine for the games i play for now. and another friend has offered me his RK-P550 to use until i get my new psu but it doesn't have a 6 pin connector so i was gonna use a multi molex to 6 pin adapter. so what i wanna know is will it be ok for 5 weeks running about 7 hours a day and 60% of the time just watching youtube
cheers guys sorry for the long backstory

Fuuuck well thats just fantastic now i have a good system without a half decent psu or gpu for 5 weeks. thanks for the answer anyways

since your waiting 5 weeks i would pick up a gtx 1060, should be retailing for around $250-300 and then pick up an EVGA G2 550w or a SeaSonic S12II 620W both retail around $70. That should keep you within your $400 budget and will be a rock solid foundation for a good build.

If your just watching youtube videos most of the time you can run intels on chip graphics for a short while till you can get everything bought. gaming will suffer quite a bit but at least you can use your computer.

Yeah a 1060 would be nice and a good psu for $70 would also be nice however here in Australia the parts are twice the price. getting a 1060 would add about $100 onto the price

in Australia in AUD pricing these are the prices:
the cheapest gtx 1060 is the EVGA GeForce GTX 1060 Gaming 6GB and thats $399 which leaves $1 for a psu so yeah
and as for the psu im gettting: CoolerMaster B2 Series 700W and thats $99
and the 960 4gb is : $299
so yeah as much as i would love one a 1060 is not possible

RX 470 is launching in a couple of days. We'll need to wait for launch reviews, but it really should be within about 15% of the 480, nice card for 1080P. Even in Australia that should be less than $300 for a 4GB unit. Who knows what availability will be like, but I'd be waiting for one of those over a 960.
