Just got a new laptop. Dell G7 17.3" 300hz, i7 10750h, RTX 2070, 16gb DDR4, running Windows 11.
During gaming there is times that the FPS goes down from like 120FPS to 30ish... While this is happening I've checked for spikes in hardware use in task manager, and looking for processes that are taking extra resources as well. The memory usage is probably around a steady 90%, but when there's low frames there isn't a spike or change in it - There is no spike in resources, and there are no processes out of normal compared to when its running great. I thought it was overheating maybe, but I got a cooling pad and during these FPS drops the laptop is cool to the touch, not even close to being hot.
At this point I don't know where to go from here and how to diagnose what the problem is. If there's anymore I can do please let me know... I appreciate the help in advance.
