Was wondering if I could hook up a 60hz 1080p monitor to my pc (Core i5-3470 3.20GHz / 8GB RAM / 240GB SSD, it doesn't state how big the psu is it just says "DC") it is a sff pc and it has vga. I'm kinda new and I just didn't wana burn anything out. This pc doesn't have a gpu.

Last question: if my pc has lots of hook up ports do I only use one? Like one monitor for a vga and another monitor uses display?
I would only use one monitor anyways and I plan to use vga. Thanks for you guys putting up with my lack of knowledge, I probably left somthing out.

Solution
DisplayPort offers much higher refresh rates at higher resolutions plus advanced audio signals.
i would use DP over any other connection, no matter what was available.

any good monitor will have both HDMI & DP available.
not many, if any, newer models have offered VGA for many years now.
most starting phasing out VGA for DVI >10 years ago.
and now have moved on to HDMI 2.0+ & DP 1.4.

so you should be good with your DP connection.
a "monitor" does not require power from the system.

it will only receive a video signal from the computer through a single video cable at a time;
whether that's HDMI, DisplayPort, DVI, VGA, etc...

if you're not entirely sure which video output your system has to offer you can share an image of your rear I/O panel here.

Here's a photo, so if I wana run 2 moniters on this setup would I need a split cable? Or would I just run one to the display port. https://ibb.co/D5yKCd5

a splitter would only show the same image on both screens.

you would need both VGA & DP occupied but whether this iGPU can provide extended desktop would need to be determined.
it should work.
Should work. I don't really plan on running 2 monitors but I just wanted to know. And if you had too chose, would vga or dp be better for gaming? Like is one better than the other? I don't know if il have the choice but I'm wondering.
