Hey ppl i have the choice between Monitor- 1680*1050[19 inch or 22 inch], 1600*900 [20 inch]or 1920*1080[22 inch]
What should i choose for gaming?

Btw, what is response time- is 2 ms better or 5 ms for gaming purposes ?

Am considering viewsonic, for gaming should i consider the va series or only consider the vx series ?

bigger resolution is always better so out of the options above it would have to be 1920*1080. if its possible you should consider 2920*1200 as this is a much better resolution in my opinion but others might disagree. Also 2ms is much better than 5ms. But the quicker the response times the more you pay. Having a bigger response time such as 7ms and above and you might start to experience a thing called ghosting which isnt a great thing, especially when playing fast paced games.

5ms response time is considered the acceptable limit. so long as its not measures in GTG (grey to grey) this is a made up number pretty much, one of the big lies of the monitor world. if its 5ms GTG you don't want it. and you will get ghosting.

you want TRUE 5ms response time, or 2ms GTG.

Higher resolution enables you to game at any possible resolution.. For instance, a monitor with native resolution 1920 x 1080 will allow you to game at 1680 x 1050 and other resolution.. With a lower native resolution monitor, you'll be missing out on that feature.. Moreover, the price difference is not huge.. So its like, bigger the better.. Thus, look for a good 22" display.. Personnely, i do not like Viewsonic displays very much.. I'll prefer Samsung, LG or even BenQ over it..

SO i go with a 22 inch @ 1920*1080 5 ms over a 19 inch 1680*1050 2 ms
Will it be wise for gaming with a gtx 460.
Well btw, so if i buy the 22 inch, i can reduce the resolution to lets say 1680*1050 in some games and it still showing it very nice ?

Response times upto 8ms (12ms in fact) will not cause any ghosting or frame delays.. From your stated choices, going for the 22" display is what i recommend.. And yes, the resolution management works exactly like you've stated..

Just to mention. its between these two
http://www.viewsonic.com/products/desktop-monitors/lcd/value-series/va2231wm.htm
and
http://www.viewsonic.com/products/desktop-monitors/lcd/x-series/vx1962wm.htm

SO you would go with the 22 inch within the selection ?
If yes, then i will be buying it-
