Monitor acting weird while gaming? also games crashing

When I'm playing games (mainly chivalry) my monitor goes black the game freezes and i can't play for 10 seconds it happens constantly on that game any ideas on how to fix it also battlefield 3 and crysis 2 crash after maybe 15-30 minutes of gameplay and a message appears saying something about a bad video driver?
