Monitor affects gaming FPS??

Okay, this might sounds crazy....but i have a GTX 980 Ti and i tested it on Dying Light today, with all maxed out settings but the resolution is 1600x900 (because i have an old HP monitor from 2009) and guess what.....the FPS dropped....no, it runs the game at 30 fps below which i have seen people playing the game at 50 fps and up on max settings, 1920x1080 resolution???? is my graphics card damaged??? what should i do to get the 980 Ti work like it supposed to...please HELP MEEE!!!

My Specs:
Processor: i7 4790k
Graphics Card: Nvidia Geforce GTX 980 Ti
Ram: 16gb G.Skil Rip Jaws.

First....you bought a $700 card for a 900p monitor?

Second, when you decrease resolution the game becomes CPU bound. You need 1440p to really let the 980 Ti shine. It's even crazy overkill for 1080p.

msi afterburner is good, post back with max temps while playing a game

Have you tried other games? Run a benchmark ...3dmark firestrike 1.1 and post a link to the results page here after you run it, takes like 5 minutes or so to run it.

i dont know, i uninstalled Dying Light right after the game started lagging tho....i have Hitman: Absolution if that helped @@!~

I was thinking he would have had dsr on though at least but apparently he doesn't. I just tested mine at 1600x900 and get like 250 fps on a game where I was at 80 fps at 4k.

No, but you should go to a 1080P monitor at least with this card, I can drop down to 1600x900, which I did to test it for you and I get a ton more fps....not less. Something is wrong.

Try enabling DSR by going into nvidia control panel and selecting it in the options there...check all the boxes up to 4 x and go into a game and run it at any higher resolution like 1080p or 1440P I guess would be the max since you're at 900P native resolution.

Do the benchmark I said up there and post your results.

yeah, i'm all about heavy game so yeah....i was gonna upgrade my monitor next week too because i cant stand playing heavy games in 1600x900

That looks normal...GPU running full 100%, probably stock speeds and your cpu physics score is good too and combined is good, which means they are both running together well. Did you ever try any other games like you said you were going too?

EDIT: Maybe I'm getting it confused with another problem...try another game. I just always figure that people try other games out if they are having a problem with one.

I tried CS:Go and other people are getting like 400fps while im just getting 200fps
