Monitor becomes brighter on its own

So, i bought a Philips monitor, 278E8Q. It becomes brighter on it's own whenever i play or watch something dark, washing out all color. When i touch my nvidia settings, it instantly reverts to normal.

All drivers are updated. Any idea how to fix this?

Might be windows doing it with adaptive brightness. you also may want to look for that setting in your monitor's settings as well.

Should have mentioned that i'm on Win 7 and have no adaptive brightness option.

Looks like your monitor has Smart image lite. Try turning that off, look at page 8 of the manual found here https://www.download.p4c.philips.com/files/2/278e8qjaw_70/278e8qjaw_70_dfu_aen.pdf

Thanks, reading the standard setting, it does sound like the culprit. I will try the internet setting and see how it works out. Funnily enough my colors were set to something like 15-235 instead of 0-255 for some reason. Changed that as well.
