I've come across a year long battle with my old rig. After a series of blackouts and parts replacement and upgrades I'm at my wit's end. A series of blackouts accured in May of 2018 that "killed" my rig. Finally finding out it burned a component in the HDD to s**t. I have a 1tb thumbdrive that will act as a temporary fix until I've accumulated enough funds to acquire a 1tb SSD. Issue is that I'm trying to install my new os on to the thumb drive but the monitor and tv will not display anything but a no signal message before they turn off automatically. Do I need to install the os via another computer or what? I've tried each video output port with onboard video card and the installed one. I've tried taking out the installed card and using the onboard one with prevail. Just black screening. I can't use the old HDD in any manner. So that's out of the question. Question is can I installed the os to thumbdrive to help bring up a display? It'll be done through another PC though.
