I just installed a new gpu in my pc which is a gtx 260. This pc has never had any gpu before other than the onboard graphic. I have installed the gtx 260 and in device manager it recognized the gpu and the status is working properly. However when I change the monitor cable from the mobo to the gpu, my monitor shows message 'cable not connected'. My monitor only has a vga port and I use a vga-dvi adapter to connect to the gpu(dvi-i dual link). I've tried disabled onboard graphic in device manager and in bios but still nothing. I also double check that the card is inserted properly and the 2x6-pins supplementary connectors are connected to the card. Any help would be appreciated.

Solution
know anybody who has a monitor that uses dvi to test with to make certain your videocard system works as maybe adapter issue.
