monitor case dimensions

for a typical 19 wide screen of 16x9 regardless of the other specs what are the physical dimensions of the case? in inches. especially the distance between the lower vesa holes and the lower edge of the case? I am making my own stand and wish the monitor to sit on and be supported by the top of the stand as opposed to simply hanging from it which most monitors do. I need this dimension so i know how high i need to mount the vesa mount from the stand's top surface. the stand will be 6 inches in diameter at the bottom, coffee can size. probably a wood block. height not too important. the monitor resting on the top surface helps support the weight.

You should a wide variety of measurements.

Do be very sure to use the correct screws between mount and display. So check those specifications as well.
