Question Monitor display

hello, I'm having issues trying to get my monitor to get my refresh rate to 144hz. my Asus Tuff laptop can go up to 144hz and current monitor can go up to 240hz. But when i have my monitor plugged into my laptop with an HDMI I'm only getting 60hz on the display settings and Nvidia control panel. I've tried multiple HDMI cables to see if that was the issue but still cant seem to figure it out.

Likely the HDMI on the laptop or monitor is an older version that only supports 60hz. Post the exact make and model of the laptop and monitor.

Okay thank you. I will purchase a more high end hdmi and see if that’s the issue. It’s weird because I hooked up my other 60hz monitor and the display looks way better than my 240hz monitor.
