Monitor does not fit reseloution

I recently bought a monitor (samsung SD300) it is a HDMI 1080p monitor, yet when I set the resoloution to 1080p the one it is made for I get a black border around the screen and it does not fit. I am using an AMD R9 series graphics card and HDMI input and output. How do I fix it so 1080p does fit?

if you go into catalyst centre, then go on to the monitor settings, there is a GPU scaling option, you have to check this and you'll see a slider which can adjust the screen to fit

Open AMD CCC, go to;

My digital flat-panels

Scaling options (Digital flat panels)

Drag slider to 0%.

Option looks like this in CCC:
