I've had this problem for some time now, but haven't been able to find a solution on my own.

My monitor (an auria eq267w) won't display anything when hooked up to my graphics card through its dvi port. I know that it recognizes it because it doesn't turn off on its own while connected.

It works when i hook it up to the monitor's vga port and use an adapter to connect to the card's dvi port, and i've tested it with an old dell monitor to confirm that.

I've tried reseating the graphics card, disabling the motherboard's gpu through the bios, updating the drivers and reinstalling the drivers (though i didn't finish that because the installer said it couldn't find the hardware, and that seemed like a problem for another day.)

Motherboard is a gigabyte z87-d3hp

Solution
the motherbd will default to using the integrated GPU for the primary display unless you enter the bios and either turn off the iGPU or tell it to initialize the PCIE Graphics/PEG first.
