I had a 60Hz monitor until recently when I got a 180Hz one. The thing is, when a game’s capped at 60fps, it just doesn’t feel smooth like it did on my old 60Hz monitor. I know I got used to higher refresh rates and it’s tough to go back, but honestly, 60fps on the new monitor feels worse than on the old one—I even plugged it back in to check.
Feels like things only get smooth when the game runs at 100fps or more. My monitor has FreeSync Premium, and G-Sync is on in the Nvidia panel. I tried turning both off but no luck. Also, I'm using a DisplayPort cable.

Im using translate because my english is really bad. thx

What graphics card are you using?
What model monitor are you using?

Try setting vsync to adaptive.
Leave g-sync to disabled.
thx for reply

GTX 1650 D6
Viewsonic VX2418C

I try to use vsync adaptive (frecuencia de actualizacion dinamica in my ss) but I cant turn on

Adaptive vSync caps max target framerate at refresh rate which should have no effect if refresh rate is set at 180Hz. It pauses GPU frames in a buffer using regular vSync when rendering faster than refresh rate, which unfortunately means you get the usual input lag problem of vSync then (but at least the image won't tear then) and tearing below it. That is, if the card is outputting less than 180fps it should be the equivalent of vSync off

If you don't have that, try FastSync mode even though it really only works well when rendering at multiple times the refresh rate. Unlike Adaptive, all frames are rendered but only the latest one is sent to the screen--this consumes a lot more power but input lag at least usually doesn't jitter all over the place (if only slightly above refresh though, the most recent rendered frame is exactly the same as it would be in vSync with the same lag problem). This also disables framerate control if fps falls below refresh so also the same as vSync off then

With DisplayPort and a FreeSync Premium monitor though, G-Sync Compatible technically should be the best setting as it adjusts the monitor's refresh to whatever the card is putting out.

Note that MVA panels like that may appear to have a decent response time spec but that's for for standard black-to-white-to-black transitions, and other colors such as gray-to-gray can be significantly slower

Just set it back to default. Everyone here always jumps right to the the technical without asking the basics first.

What monitor did you come from?

I'm not being a hotdog saying this but ViewSonic isn't exactly a great brand, at least for gaming. It's got a 5ms advertised response which means it's probably more like 8ms and it's a VA panel.

US page doesnt mention G-Sync upfont which means it is unofficially compatible, not certified. In other words, it works with Nvidia but it will fallback back to compatibility mode being FreeSync.

And for a probably not factual like above but opinion, don't set a framecap that low with FreeSync, it defeats the purpose. Find where your card typically maxes out and set it to that, let FreeSync do the rest.

AOC 2425W and yeah I know ViewSonic not the best I tried to return it but they wouldn’t let me

¿Estás obteniendo 60FPS en esos juegos?
Según el sitio web, el monitor es compatible con 48-165Hz, por lo que si se rasga, podría estar cayendo por debajo de 50FPS.
Yes Im playing MTA (GTA SA mp mod) and wwe 2k24 another games like Rocket League or Valorant I can play at 180FPS

Not crapping on you for it, just that it could be a factor. Your old one was TN which is arguably worse than VA. Hard to compare them 1:1 with how old the AOC was.

Now that my brain is more awake, you said your setup was fine with the old monitor which means it's not framerate, driver/software directly but more likely than anything the monitor.

Having FreeSync on this one but not the old one and the old one felt smoother tells me the new one has very poor implementation of FreeSync, is a different revision or is just straight up inferior. Newer tech doesn't always mean better.

If anyone else wants to review my logic feel free but I think at this point it's the new monitor itself.
